FAQ
HELPFUL INFO
Q: What makes H.H. work unique?
A: Danelle makes everything by hand. This is a one-woman show, and everything passes through my mind and hands before it reaches the website. That means that even 2 “like” pieces will be completely unique. That means you wont find my work, or anything like it in the store.
Q: Why do you say “no two pieces are the same”?
A: That’s the beauty of handmade, each piece is a little different, even if it’s a set. Mugs may not be exactly the same height, bowls may stack a little unevenly, plate rims may have a slightly different angle. A pair of earrings will look like sisters but not twins. This is what makes handmade goods so lovely to see and use. Each piece has character, spunk, attitude. They all have their own life to live, and they like to live it a little differently than each other.
Q: Why is handmade pottery, jewelry, etc. more expensive than what I can buy at A big box store?
A: Handmade art is no easy feat, and it is not something you can master overnight, or even over a few years. From start to finish, the process of all my mediums take weeks to complete. There are many steps involved in making all art forms, and it requires perfect timing, excellent multitasking, discipline to stick to a plan, and vision to see the end result when it is miles away. In addition, sometimes these efforts yield failed results.
Aside from all that, this is being done by one person, not by a machine or a computer program. When you buy handmade you are paying for an individual’s time, efforts, experience, successes, failures, and a little piece of their heart. I know a piece of mine leaves with every piece I sell, and the heart is a pretty invaluable organ.
Thank you for supporting handmade, and thank you for supporting my dream and my family.
SHIPPING
Q: How soon will my purchase ship?
A: All orders will be shipped within 10 business days after your order is completed. All orders are shipped with USPS Priority Mail. Contact me with any special requests.
Q: How much does shipping cost?
A: Shipping costs to anywhere in the US are flat rate $15 for the first item, and $5 for each additional item. This may be more than the actual cost to ship your item(s) to you.
Q: If I make multiple purchases do you combine shipping?
A: If you place multiple orders before the first order is shipped, and would like them shipped together, please email me before or after checkout and I will do my best to combine boxes where I can to ensure the least expensive shipping option.
RETURNS AND EXCHANGES
Q: Do you accept Returns/exchanges?
A: I accept returns and exchanges for all items, with the exception of custom or personalized work. If a refund or exchange is desired, please contact me within 3 calendar days of receiving the item. Items must be in new condition with no visible signs of use or wear.
Q: What will it cost me to return or exchange an item?
A: Refunds will only be applied to the product cost. Shipping cost cannot be refunded. The customer is responsible for return shipping cost. For exchanges, the customer is also responsible for the cost difference between original and new purchase, as well as the shipping cost for the new purchase. In most cases, it may make more sense to process a full return and complete a separate purchase, I would be happy to discuss all options if you have any concerns.
Q: When can I expect to see my refund?
A: All refunds will be processed once I have received the item and have verified its condition. After that, it depends on the processing time of your bank, so keep an eye on your statements.
Q: What if my purchase arrives damaged?
A: As heartbreaking as it is, sometimes items can be damaged in the shipping process. I package my work with a lot of care, and mark every package as fragile to prevent mishandling. I hate to see it damaged as much as you. However, if an item is damages in transit, you must file a damage claim with USPS within 7 days of receiving the item. I recommend taking photos of the damaged package and item for your claim, and retaining all items and materials until the claim is complete. If for some reason USPS denies your claim, please reach out to me with the proof of denial letter, so we can discuss next steps. As always, contact me with questions or concerns.
CUSTOM AND PERSONALIZED WORK
Q: Do you accept custom orders?
A: Sometimes a personalized or completely one-of-a-kind piece is exactly what you need. Custom work is one of my favorite things to do, but it is not always possible. Please check my Instagram page here to see if my customs/commissions are open or not, or reach out to me with your idea.
Q: How do I pay for my custom order?
A: Payment for custom and personalized work is due before the work begins. I will create a custom listing for you on my site and send you the link. I cannot start work until all necessary design questions are answered, and completion of the work depends on my unique firing schedule. Since pottery cannot be fired in the kiln one piece at a time all custom ceramic work is dependent on a full kiln to be completed. Timelines for completion will be discussed prior to payment.
Q: How much will my custom pottery cost?
A: Please understand that art takes time, resources, and materials. I strive to provide the highest quality of work possible, and this means that every step of the process is meticulous and strategic. Cost of custom or personalized work may be higher than the ready to ship items you see in my shop, but it may not be. It all comes down to cost of everything that goes into your piece.
WHOLESALE ORDERS
Q: Do you accept wholesale orders?
A: I am almost always open for wholesale orders, whether it is an item I currently offer, or a uniquely custom request. Please contact me for all wholesale order requests.
